The legendary Neil Diamond is one of the best-selling and most iconic singer/songwriters in pop/rock music history.

Besides being one of the best-selling and concert drawing artists ever, he’s also written and recorded the songs of a generation — including some of the most famous songs on the planet.

In the beginning of 2018, shortly before his 77th birthday, Neil Diamond retired from touring after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

However, Diamond’s live performance legacy continues to be celebrated for audiences worldwide through longtime Las Vegas performer Rob Garrett, known as America’s premier Neil Diamond tribute performer.

Like his musical hero, Rob Garrett was a Brooklyn, New York native.

In the spring of 1974, his parents moved the family from New York City to the Las Vegas Valley, where, in 1976, he witnessed his first live Neil Diamond show when Diamond debuted in Las Vegas to record crowds at the Aladdin Hotel’s “Theater for the Performing Arts” in July 1976.

Garrett went on to see him multiple times across the country—right up until Diamond’s final U.S. concert at the Los Angeles Forum on August 12, 2017.

In 1980, Garrett started his own band, “Rock n Roll Heaven,” and enjoyed a decade-and-a-half career in Las Vegas and across the nation before transitioning from cover band frontman to a full-time tribute performer dedicated to one of his musical idols.

In 1995, Garrett was selected by Paul Revere, leader of “The Raiders” to portray Neil Diamond in the world-famous “Legends in Concert” review.

What was meant to be a short engagement turned into a long-term hit show.

By August 1998, Garrett was back in Vegas and continued to perform with “Legends” for another couple of years before deciding to create his own tribute production.

He began a steady touring schedule, building a large and loyal following along the way—earning the title “King of Diamonds Neil Diamond Tribute.”

He continues to draw packed houses nationwide, often in venues that typically host major artists.

Garrett has also received multiple accolades, including “Male Tribute Artist of the Year.”

“Since he (Diamond) announced his retirement, I’ve felt a strong sense of responsibility to keep his legacy alive for future generations. It’s something I never get tired of doing,” he said.

On May 19th officially proclaimed the date “Rob Garrett Day,” commemorating Rob’s 50 years as a Las Vegas resident and 44 years as a professional Vegas performer.

Now in the year 2025, Garrett celebrates 45 years on stage in Las Vegas, with the last three decades devoted solely to paying tribute to the now-retired Neil Diamond.

It has been said that no other tribute artist is so closely identified with the original performer as Garrett, who has performed his show at more Las Vegas venues than any other tribute artist.
